My Personal Experience with Wacom Tablets: Our long time visitors know that I use a Wacom Pen Tablet to manipulate all of my Graphic and Web Design projects. I started using my graphire 3 tablet back in late 2005, and since then I've never used a mouse again. I was so pleased to see that my lines on my graphics were smoother, and I had more control over my graphics then ever before. The tablet was easy to use, and within a week I was on my way to using my Wacom PenTablet just like the pros. I now always recommend the Wacom tablets because I use them myself, and I can verify that they are the best quality of tablets you will ever find. They are simple to plug in and get started. No fussing with to many wires, and no overwhelming steps to use the tablet... just plug in and your ready to go.
The Wacom Tablet has held up well over the past five years, and is still going strong. I have no reason to upgrade or get a new one until this one decides to stop working on me. The tips on the pens I never had reason to replace because they last a long for me, and that is awesome, because I use the pen tablet 100% of my computing time. I never use a mouse! I did have to replace my pen once, and that was due to my butterfingers, dropping the pen onto a hard surface so many times. Honestly, I would have to say I dropped the pen at least twenty times, and then it finally it just started to act funny. I had to replace my pen and it was reasonable to replace and the average replacement of my pen was twenty-five dollars. In all I am very pleased with my tablet, and it has paid for itself hundreds of times over as the quality of my graphics became better, and not to mention my production time was cut in half because the pen allows you to move more freely and faster.
