What do you really know about those running your website?

There are people out there that do not care about you and will do anything to get you to use their design services which include website hosting, and sign their contracts. Here are some SAFE tips from me about getting hosting, domains, and more. I know of a so called "risky" business that is running a web hosting and design business from their home outside of the U.S.A. They know that the laws between their Country and the U.S.A. are basically lawless when it comes to the way they do business over the Internet, and because of this they tend to seek out Newbie's that do not know any better.

You must be so very careful out there today with people starting up businesses from their bedrooms, and then put on their game faces to play a game with you. Please be careful!

My visitors that read this will be warned of the low quality sub hosting companies out there. The other very important thing to know is that they have no security experience on running servers, and they totally depend on good luck to protect your web sites.

This is my plea to make sure you only use hosting companies that have a long record of customer satisfaction, and please be sure you are not buying from a sub account holder without fully investigating them. 1.Be sure to get hosting where you have FULL access to your account.
You want complete control over your website, files, directories, emails and all utilities provided in the promotion or hosting co. page. IF you go with a company that "SUBS" out hosting be very careful as they may NOT give you all the utilities that hosting co. offers. To make sure you get these options simply go to the True "Host" and read their details. Do NOT get ripped off.

2. When you buy a domain from a hosting co.
You must be VERY careful that they do NOT register the domain in "their" name and they add all the details such as admin, contacts, and more into their names. IF they do this then they are shown as owner/admin and without proper proof or recourse you can pretty much kiss your domain and hosting goodbye. You can request that your domain is registered as PRIVATE, but still it must be in your name!

Can they register a domain in their name if you paid for it? That is FALSE and IF they tell you they are using their credit card to purchase the domain please AVOID them at all costs. Your domain should be in YOUR name ALWAYS. To make sure you are listed as the domain owner please check to see if you are listed as the admin it may be to late for you. If you find out you are NOT the owner and admin of that domain your best bet is to kindly and calmly contact them for account AND technical support and insist they fix this.

3. If a hosting company does NOT allow you access to your website directory via FTP or WebFTP they have a plan. This plan is to
have complete control over you and your website. They do NOT want you to know that YOU yourself can build, edit, and add to your OWN website. They would prefer to "charge" you for each instance you request. So please be very careful.

4. IF you are blocked access to your website directory you must contact a legal representative immediately. First and foremost you should make a complete back-up of your website. Be sure to save all requests you have made via email, registered snail mail and more. You are also required to contact the MAIN hosting co. (if the account is subbed out) and alert them to your situation. You may not get anywhere by contacting the hosting company at first, but they usually catch on to the scammers out their quickly. Do not take it out on the main hosting company, as they quickly realize what their clients are doing, and sometimes without any legal backing they can't do much for you. So please be safe out there, and know your domain/hosting rights.
