The Adsense Newbie 101 Guide Monetize your traffic with Pay Per Click

There is nothing pretty to see here, and this was done on purpose. To some of our visitors this section is very important to them, and we want to make sure we offer you the best information we can from experience, and from other website owners we know. What are those rules? I cannot even begin to list them all here, and since their policy can change at anytime it is best you review their current policies on their website. However, I can tell you that they do not tolerate you breaking any of their rules. They have a right to cancel your account, and return all earnings back to the advertisers if they feel or found you were breaking their rules. Actually they do not need to have a reason to cancel your account, and it is important that you know this from the very beginning. This is why it is critical you fully understand what you are doing before you use consider depending on this system as an income. Is it not my intention to scare you away from using this system, but I wanted to make it very clear to you that you must follow their policies carefully or you will risk losing your account and earnings. Personally, I think the Adsense program is amazing, and it gives sincere hard working site owners the opportunity to earn a little extra money here and there for all their hard work.

What do you need to use it? The main thing you need is a website that is at least six months old, and it contains quality content that has been written by you. Google will not approve a website that simply slapped up a site with a few sentences and a photo. Google does not want to risk their advertisers money by placing ads on useless website's. Imagine being an owner of a dog food business, and you were paying $50,000.00 a year in advertising, would you want your advertisement on a page that has no traffic and or only a picture of a dog with a small sentence? No, most likely you would not want to waste your hard earned money on advertising on a page like that. This is why Google has to protect their advertisers and investments.

Can you really make money with this system? The simple answer is yes. You can certainly make money with this system, but it is not easy, and it takes time. It is far more complicated than just tossing up a nice unique helpful article these days. Just like with anything else out there you need to prove yourself to others that you are a reliable source and once you do this with your website you can truly make a decent income. Again, you must follow strict rules and keep up with policy changes.

How much can you make? Nobody can tell you how much you will make. There are several reasons why one site might make $1,000.00 a month, and another site is only making $20.00. There is no way I can sit here and tell you that you will make thousands, because I will not lie to you.

Scam - Fraud ALERT: This is where I will chime in now and warn you that if you found a program online that states if you sign up with their service or buy their product you can make $5,000.00 a month with any PPC program it is likely to be a scam. There are so many scams out there today and I warn you again do not sign up with any PPC plan that promises you large checks each month as it is nothing but a scam. So many people have fallen for these scams, and they sign up using their credit/debit cards to only find out the small print on the program they joined will bind them to a contract that will take money out of their accounts each month. Once you sign up you do not realize that you signed a legal contract that you are required to make a payment (usually over $50.00 a month), and you cannot stop it because they can legally put you into collections because you agreed to their terms/contract! Please be very careful out there, and I would prefer you check out the Google Adsense Help Forum so that you can review this information for yourself. Like I said it happens to people daily so they run to the Google Forums to complain, and they only find out they were scammed, and I find it heartbreaking to see people lose out when they had such hopes.

The Basics How Adsense Works

A site with quality specialized content, and optimized to generate traffic is exactly what you need to generate income with AdSense.

Here is a basic scenario on using Adsense - Adwords: Let's say that Mike wants to advertise his line of fishing products, and it is his choice to pay $3.00 per click for his advertisements. Mike finds out there is a service out there called Google Adwords, and he signs up. He quickly finds out that Google will allow Mike to set his own daily price. If Mike has a budget of $30.00 a day and Google runs his ads on other relevant website's about fishing, and throughout the day Mike's ads are clicked on a total of 10 times, his advertisement costs would reach a total of $30.00 for that day. When Mike hits his $30.00 budget he has instructed Google to stop showing the advertisements for that day. This service is what we call Adwords, by Google.

Why will this work well for the advertiser? Google places Mikes advertisements on other website's that offer "relevant" information about fishing and fishing products. Now we will find out what website's will see Mikes ads.

Along comes Jenny whom is a website owner that has a web site about fishing, but she doesn't want to advertise her own product. Jenny would prefer to put advertisements on her website, and collect a small percentage of income from some of those advertisements. Jenny figures she will try out Google Adsense, and hopes that Google will place some really cool fishing ads on her web site. Well, Google sees that Jenny's site is perfect to show Mikes advertisements so they are displayed on Jenny's site along with many other fishing type sites.

WOW, what a reach huh! If someone clicks on Mike's link on Jenny's site, Google will share some of that $3.00 with the web site owner where the link was clicked, and in this case Jenny will get the money, and Mike will hopefully get a sale. Mike is also happy he earned a new visitors to his site which may return again in the future or maybe even buy something from his site today. Depending on how deeply that visitor clicked on the link, and their final activity, the percentage Jenny will see could be higher. Jenny will get a percentage of that $3.00, because she is following the terms within the policy and she is now a happy Adsense user. How much will Jenny get? This all depends on a few other things such as Jenny's web sites click through rate (CTR) and the estimated costs per one-thousand impressions. In the end Jenny will get paid for each legal click on her website.

How much can you make? Just like the real world some things cost more than others

Words are valuable on the Internet: If you sign up as a Adsense user how much you make with Adsense totally depends on the "subject" of your website. Some advertisers are willing to pay a LOT of money per click on certain types of subjects.

Example If your web site subject is on Medical issues then you may do very well with adsense links about cancer because cancer research - treatments tends to pay more into their advertising. If you have a website about bubble gum then you may not do as well. Why? Bubble gum is not something people tend to search for or buy on the Internet, unless you're a commercial buyer/seller. What if you made a site about your drawing of a purple Zebra? Truly that is no a very popular search term. Now, if there was a popular cartoon character of a purple Zebra, and your website was about cartoons you just might do well. See where I'm going with this?

Do not run out and toss up a website with what you believe has the highest paying keywords! This is a mistake people make all the time, and I cannot stress this enough "Google knows a PPC site when it visit's it." The only way this will work for you is if you have a website that you love and care about. A website that you keep up on a weekly basis, and use legal optimization techniques. My years of being in this business has proven that website's that are made from someone whom is passionate on the sites subject always wins. If you love to sew then put up a website about sewing and give it a lot of tender loving care as time will go by fast, and before you know it you'll have an income from your website. Do not give up on your website if you only see $20.00 a month, because time and hard work will increase these amounts as long as you keep working hard. I always say that three years can fly by so fast, and three years from now you just may see the extreme amounts of $500.00 or even $5000.00 a month if you just stick to it. If you quit at $20.00 a month, how would you know where you would be after a few years?

REMEMBER: Google will not tolerate tasteless "made for adsense style website's"

Pre-formatted Adsense Template Warning! I wouldn't trust just anyone's template or script

WARNING: Google Adsense is safe, and worth looking into. I am warning you about the turds out there that prey on new webmasters. This warning is to make you aware of buying pre-designed Adsense web site templates from an unknown or non trusted sources.

Use templates IF you know what you are doing. Dishonest people out there do not offer the instructions on how to add your adsense account number so that ALL pages use YOUR account number. Some of the pages will use YOUR account number, and other pages will use THEIR account number. They also design scripts to load their account number on every five or so page loads. This is very common on several of the Wordpress - Adsense templates out there so BE CAREFUL.

If you decide to buy those types offers such as those Adsense ready template packages you should be absolutely sure that they have removed their Adsense Account ID from each and every page included into the package.

To sum it up. Most of these types of packages come with a PHP script page that echo's your adsense ID #. This makes your job easier so that you do not have to add your ID to each and every page. However, I do recommend that you take the time to check each page to make sure everything is in order. Make sure it is YOUR account number fist. Then the other things they forget to tell you about is they offered this set to hundreds of other webmasters. Your pages will be put into the sludge of Google because it will be considered duplicate content. You cannot change other peoples articles, but you can edit titles a bit so be sure to give your adsense type site some extra care. The things to check is page title, keywords,description, ID, spelling, and of course make sure the articles do not include keyword spam.

You only pay whenever someone views your ad.

Prepare before you apply: You are welcome to apply to Google to use their great PPC tools if you currently have a complete website. Google will not accept brand new, incomplete or under construction website's. Your website has to be at least six months old, and have a serious website owner to use their services properly. Before you apply you must review their current policies and fully understand them. Put their rules into action on your website, and when you are ready you should then apply. Please be patient as it can take several weeks for them to give you an answer.

Example lets say you have a domain named called uglypottery.com. You put together a web page(s) with your top keywords and phrases, and now your ready to get busy. The main page is about disgusting looking pottery in the world. Then you could add more pages on that domain about pottery makers, another page of pottery supplies, or how about a page on the history of pottery, oh and wait what about antique pottery... and so on. Each of those pages will have Adsense on them and the content of the page (keywords) will generate ads specifically for your pages information. The more quality and unique information the better the web site will be. Google loves a web page with top quality information. Now you have a cool web site to make a few bucks you will want to expand, and the choice to expand is critical!

What if you have many hobbies?

Should you combine? Should you put all of your hobbies into one website? Well, that depends on the topic of these hobbies. If each hobby is truly unique then you would most likely have a better chance if you were to have a special domain for each hobby you have. I am guessing right about now you are thinking that this can get expensive... NO way Jose! Anyone will tell you that the average business has to lay out over $20,000.00 USD to just get started. You could have your own internet income without spending thousands or even hundreds, and all it really takes is getting a host, domain, time, patience, and keeping up with the latest optimization techniques.

Warning on Click Fraud: It can happen to anyone

It's sad and true, and can happen to you if you're not careful

You cannot click on your own ad's nor can you ask your friends and family to click on the ads within your site. The PPC programs have a way to tell if this is happening, and once they find out they will ban the account. The best thing to do is just wait it out and the clicks will pick up with time, and if the site is properly optimized then it will happen sooner then later. It is very important to watch your website's traffic, and your Adsense account to learn what is normal and not normal traffic for your website. It is up to you to do your best to protect yourself. Google can tell if you made a little mistake once a year, and they wont be harsh, but I can assure you if you keep making those mistakes they will ban you without any warning. Never, and I mean NEVER even consider tricking Google, because they will get you for it.

Google has a strict policy against click fraud and does not give second chances.

Another thing to consider is that when you start to step on your competitors they may click on your Webster's ads to "fake" the fact that the website owner is committing click fraud in order to have that owner banned from the pay-per-click program. Most PPC programs will monitor these situations and usually can tell when this is happening. In the end it will be the person committing the fraud that loses their accounts and will be removed from the search engine listings. It is not worth trying to attack your competition this way because Google has way to tell this is going on, and you will be caught.
